Smile in West Papua

This photo was taken in the period of my journey in West Papua last August. Kampung Yensei, Wamesa District only has one school which is only available for elementary grade. With minimum facilities, these kids seemed happy despite their lack of luck in getting appropriate education.

Ratu Boko Palace

Boko Palace is located in Jogjakarta. It is not as famous as Prambanan and Borobudur Temple, but Boko is pretty much cleaner and astonishing. The other visitors I met when I was taking picture there showed up at 11 am.

Located in the complex of Dieng Plateau, Central Java, the colored lake has become the famous tourism site in Java Island. Being found in the volcanic area, the lake contains sulfur and smells strong for your nose.

Here are the views of volcano of Merapi from Ketep, Magelang, Central Java. Merapi is located in the border of Sleman, Klaten, Magelang and Boyolali. And the most improtant is the fact that this enormous Merapi is still very much active.

It's has been a quite long time since my previous photo, so It's me, back in action. Just want to declare that this adress still exists. Ok, my picture for this time is a situation in Pasar Ngasem or animal market. It is very famous market in Jogja and as the name tells us, it sells animal from birds, turtles, fishes, dogs, cats, snake etc.

Star Hill

It is Bukit Bintang or Star Hill. It is situated in the way from Jogja city to Wonosari, Gunung Kidul. It was cloudy and sky was pitch black so the view wasn't good enough to stare. The lights of motorbikes or cars look like stars. Star is no where to be seen in the sky but on the road.

Education Park of Yogyakarta

Built last year, Taman Pintar Yogyakarta attracts many visitors everyday. It is the place to familiarize sciences to kids and also their parents. Located in the heart of the Yogyakarta, Taman Pintar is very much worth place to visit.

UGM hit by winds

Last Friday, UGM was hit by winds. Disruptions occured everywhere. Suddently, fallen trees covered the road and some of them striked the buildings around and the street lamps. The estimated lost is about IDR 12 Billion. It's a huge lost. Until this article 's written, the process of recovery by repairing the broken building and removing the trees covering the street is on going.

Last weekend, I went back to Kuncen village, Wonosobo. It's about two hours ride from Jogja. So I pushed my old motor bike to it's limit. I don't know why, but I really missed this village. The destiny brought me here three months ago when I had to take KKN obligation from my university which every student of UGM must accomplish. But,after that obligation has done, I knew it will not be easy for me to forget the people I've met here. My friend used to say that in Jogja, If you want to get home, you only have one home to go,which is your own home but in Kuncen, you'll go to many homes.
And once again I learn something from this little community, I just wanna write and write more about this little sanctuary. This picture was taken on Saturday, when all men help a family (their neighbor) to build a house. These men are unpaid. Free! Where else you can witness that thing.

Happy Independence Day!!! I know it's too late. But I still have two photos waiting to publish. Beat the plastic!!! These photos were taken on Agust 23rd in Kuncen Village, Wonosobo, Central Java. The first photo? These kids felt so boring since there is no game for their age. Next year kidz!
Actually in Kuncen, there is no word "tujuhbelasan" coz they don't celebrate the independence day on Agust 17th. They just call it "Agustusan", which is meant that the celebration of independence day can be done before sept's coming. Hehe...great idea?

This photo was taken last month in Kuncen , an isolated village in Wonosobo, Central Java. Most of the kids get marry at the very young age. Two years from now, these two kids perhaps are going to have their own baby. At fourteen, they will be a mother. And this life once again makes me shocked.

This is a sunset view seen from my room. The sky was bright and clear and I would never let that moment past without any documentations. I've moved to a new place anyway, although my new room doesn't have a beautiful view to the sunset but at least it's far cheaper than the old one. Thank my friends (Gembul, Fuji and Rahmad) who had helped me lifting my goods,,,you rock guys.

Locked outside the library. Or It's me who didn't want to come in. U know what, GMU main library is an old fashioned building. The walls are high and the pillars are hulking, that's why many people said that, this four story building is haunted....spooky!!! And let me tell you the spookiest place. It is in the reading room at the third floor, and the spookiest time is the sunset in the third floor. This library is open until 8.PM and the librarians seem really have no fear at all. Salute to all of the librarians and all those bookworm students....Hehe

Celebration of the Differences

These two photos were taken at Jogja National Museum. The theme of this evening is celebration of the differences. The show last nite held by Jogja Hip-hop Foundation was supported by so many artists (Happy Salma, Hanung B, Butet Kertaredjasa, Ria Irawan, Iwa K, Rieke Dyah P, Landung Simaptupang) and off course a lot of hip-hopers....U know what? since the theme is celebration ofthe differences, the quiet and the riot could share the same stage.

The Hip-hopers said Basmallah before performing, and drank alcohol on stage. Hmm...It was such a great difference.

Padang, the city of...

I can tell you a lot of things about Padang, beside the dishes off course. Here, take a look.

It is a fist pillar, near my home in Padang. I know it looks like the one in sachet (Extra Joss). It was erected to honor the struggle of Bagindo Aziz Chan (the first mayor of Padang) in extruding the Dutch troops.

It is the three musketers, the statue is located in my senior high school, the only school in Padang which has this kind of art thing.

Being renovated since the big earthquake in Padang last year, this building is a car showroom located at Khatib Sulaiman street.

I've already had a plan to reach Prambanan by Trans Jogja, the new mode of mass transportation in Jogja, and u know what...the line was very-very-very loooong...so that I lost my appetite of Trans Jogja. And when I arrived there (with "traditional" angkot), the sky was'nt friendly at all, the sky covered by dark cloud. Huh...

There was people's funfair in Jogja, and I could not resist my self to take a round and took some (a lot) pictures. This photo was taken when I stood next to the giant barrel ( a knight-mad-crazy rider rode his motorbike inside the barrel).
Sekaten is annual event in Jogja. It is aimed to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Funfair is actually not the main program of Sekaten since the main show is the procession of Grebeg Maulud in north quad of Sultan Palace.

Balairung is located in the north side of the university's central building. The Big Post Office (kantor pos besar) is the Dutch colonial building that has been becoming a symbol of Jogja beside Tugu and Malioboro street. It is far more beautiful at nite, next to the post office is Bank of Indonesia, Jogjakarta. And as u can see, there is a Becak (pedicab) which is usually used as a traditional eco-friendly transportation, but the fare is pretty expensive since the main targeted passengers are tourists.
